Notice to all committee members and coaches

The role of secretary for IUYFC is increasingly difficult and takes an immense effort. If at any time during the year you have paperwork for Marco, (Club Secretary) it would help greatly if you could put an appropriate note on it and post it through his house door at Malting Lane. In addition to fulfilling the demanding secretary position Marco is coach to the Under 15 boys teams and on Thursday evenings is busy helping the development of these players. Please do NOT attempt to give him paperwork direct on a Thursday evening as it is unfair on Marco and makes the secretary job all the more difficult.

Many thanks. (Gen committee)

8th Dec 2006 - Manager and Coaches Meeting

Present were the following people :

Jon Marks
Mark Goldsack
Andy Farr
Gary Plunkett
Paul Mulgrew
Marco Caferelli
Craig Boneham
Dave Fitchitt
Robbie O`Brien
Paul ?

All team managers introduced themselves and stated how their teams progress so far this season. Gary and Craig of the under 12`s said that they were struggling for players and maybe the committee could give them some assistance in attracting new members.

Managing parents was discussed and it was generally agreed that all coaches need to be more assertive in getting parents involved doing the jobs that always normally get left for the coach to do.

Many ways of coaching were discussed and it was agreed that some coaches would like to join other teams for some sessions to pass on ideas and learn new ones themselves. This was seen as a good idea to stop coaches becoming a bit stale and also to give the kids a different challenge. Paul? was present, who is a scout for Norwich City. He stated he will be able to get some players from the club involved with some things at Norwich such as trials and coaching. Paul is also interested in getting involved with the club at a committee level and is very experienced following his involvement at Thetford Youth where he helped run a club with 15 or more teams.

It was agreed that each team should have their own balls and bibs and that each team would take full responsibility for them. This is to try and prevent the loss of too much equipment and so that the correct stuff is available for each team when they need it.

We need to buy about 50 footballs for this to be possible. Lighting and floodlighting for training needs to be improved and Marco said this will be done once the ground is a bit firmer so they can get machinery onto the rec.

It was agreed that the pitch marking rota was a great idea and when someone marks the pitch they must ensure that there is enough line marker left for the next person.

The website was discussed next and it was agreed that each team will try to enlist a willing parent to look after their teams interest and that we must put as much information on the site as possible to enable a wider interest and to attract more members.

Finally the ambitions for the club and each team were talked about. It was generally agreed that all teams were happy and that was a huge asset to the club. We decided to continue to provide a fun and enjoyable atmosphere as well as excellent coaching to the kids in the hope that we can keep players happy and content at Isleham.

Website Redesign (Oct '06):

With the launch of the new website comes a plea to coaches and parents for information and photos relating to the IUYFC teams. Match reports and photos would brighten the pages and interest the children looking at their pages. Any information can be forwarded via the info@iuyfc.co.uk mail address, and it will be included on the site as soon as possible.

Isleham Recreation Ground Extension:

We have been informed that the full grant has been passed meaning that funds will soon be released and work can begin on the long awaited extension to Isleham recreation ground. This is not just brilliant news for IUYFC but for all users of the playing field.

There has been a tremendous amount of effort by many people since this idea was first muted, and there is still a huge amount of work to complete before our children can enjoy wonderful new pitches. Meanwhile, the special thanks of all at IUYFC go to Geoff Garbutt of the Parish council and the cross party sports committee consisting of IUYFC, ICC, IUFC and Isleham Sunday FC members

Please watch this space for future developments and your once in a life time opportunity for voluntary assistance in the creation of the new playing fields.

Mini Soccer New Pitch Plans:

Isleham’s Youth Football club is delighted to announce the successful application for grant funding from Cambridgeshire ACRE / Local Network Fund. A grant of £6,189 has been awarded to help fund the creation of a new mini-soccer playing area, on land at Beck Road, Isleham.

Isleham United Youth FC is a Charter Standard Youth Football Club, providing sport and recreation in a safe environment for upwards of 120 children each week. Affiliated to Cambridgeshire FA, and Isleham United FC, the club has recently launched its’ own web site at www.IUYFC.co.uk.

The Mini-soccer set up will likely be used by up to 5 teams of boys and girls in which players will be aged between 5 – 11 years old. The grant will significantly aid the club to provide changing facilities, and a quality playing field, all self contained.

Speaking on behalf of the club the campaign chairman Mr Tom Daly, explained,

“This is terrific news for the club and the young children in particular. Mini-Soccer is growing fast and for such a small village as Isleham to have a team competing at each age group is an great achievement. The support from Isleham Parish council for the use of the land, and from Cambridge ACRE for the grant will enable our club to provide a safe and enjoyable playing area for the youngsters matches”

The club now commence the real hard work of creating the pitch from what has been a fallow field for a few years. A parents working committee is being established and it is hoped that the first game will be played as early as September 2006, the first games of next season.
